The Richardson Racing team secured a brace of top four finishes as the F4 British Championship Certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost headed for Knockhill for the eighth meeting of the campaign.
The Corby based team headed north with driver Luke Browning hoping to challenge for more silverware to add to his ever-growing tally, despite being at a disadvantage compared to a number of his rivals who had tested extensively at the tricky Scottish venue prior to the race weekend.
A tightly-fought qualifying session saw Luke post the ninth quickest time, with his best lap being less than half a second away from pole position, whilst he would also secure tenth on the grid for race three.
The opening race would prove to be a challenge for the Cheshire youngster, who was forced to contend with a slow puncture from the mid-way point of the 20 lap encounter.
Despite that, he was able to bring his car to the finish in seventh place for a solid points finish.
A grid penalty for Bart Horsten meant Luke would then start race two from sixth place and he quickly jumped into fifth ahead of a slow-starting Roberto Faria when the lights went out.
Luke then battled ahead of Zane Maloney and Josh Skelton to climb into the podium places before a slight lock-up at the hairpin allowed Skelton to sneak back ahead.
From there, Luke held his position through to the finish for a solid fourth place.
Ninth on the grid once again for the final race of the weekend, Luke was able to make up four places on the opening lap alone to climb into fifth spot and then managed to get ahead of Carter Williams on lap ten into fourth.
Despite running on old tyres, Luke edged away from the race two winner to secure his second fourth place finish of the weekend.
“It’s not been a bad weekend and to come away from it with a pair of fourth places is good,” he said. “We just haven’t quite had that last little bit of pace that we needed to push forwards onto the podium. Saying that, the car felt good in the final race but we were on old tyres and had we saved our new tyres for that one, then maybe we could have pushed the top three.
“I think we got what we could from this weekend and it’s important that we remember that we’re returning to the series this season against teams who have been racing in it for a number of years – and we haven’t done as much running at Knockhill as some others have.
“The team has done a great job again and thanks to them all for their work. Hopefully we can fight back onto the podium next time out at Silverstone.”
